Artistry for Learning

What it is

A 24-hour experiential training designed to increase the capacity of teachers and administrators within Tribes Learning Community Schools to intensify quality implementation of the 7 research-based components of Tribes TLC® that catalyze student learning: group development process, cognitive theory, multiple intelligences, cooperative learning, constructivism, reflective practice, and authentic assessment.

Why you want it

The Artistry for Learning takes your staff beyond the first 24-hour course, whether it is Basic, Middle or High School. This course concentrates on learning, rather than teaching. Participants will:

  • Reflect upon their professional learning and progress in using the process of Tribes TLC
  • Become familiar with the seven research-based components that catalyze student learning and experience specific strategies for understanding and applying each component
  • Assess their own preferred ways of learning, and plan how to differentiate curriculum to reach students of multiple intelligences
  • Learn a variety of ways to assess student-learning experiences
  • Design a cooperative learning experience and/or discovery learning experience integrating the seven research-based components
  • Recognize the importance of teachers having designated time in on-going collegial groups to confer, plan and assess student achievement

How it works

Participants experience and design learning strategies and keep an interactive journal, creating a working document for application in the classroom. The Artistry for Learning Course can be presented over 4 consecutive six-hour days, or divided into a more segmented plan to support staff while they learn and experience the process and apply it to their teaching environments. CenterSource can recommend a trainer near you to work with you to design a training plan that fits your school schedule.

Collaboration! I now have the ingredients as well as the practice for creating LEARNING experiences, rather than teaching lessons to my students. This will change my classroom and me in so many ways. I can’t wait to get started, and having the journal that I had a hand in creating and developing throughout the training is just the icing on the cake.
